Air plants absorb all of their nutrients and moisture through specialized structures on their leaves called trichomes. In the wild they receive nutrient rich water, however, in cultivation we often water our plants with purified water. While water alone will keep your air plants happy and alive, fertilizer will make them thrive.
Applying a low-non-urea-based nitrogen fertilizer such as our Foliar Feed will encourage vigorous growth, jump start the bloom cycle, and increase the production of pups. Our foliar feed has a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (NPK) ratio of 17-8-22 and comes in an amber glass bottle with a fine mist spray nozzle.
We recommend lighting misting your air plant with Foliar Feed at least once a month and not exceeding 4 times a month. Exceeding this amount of fertilizing may lead to over fertilization and your plant will not survive.
