Tillandsia andreana is a feathery air plant reminiscent of Tillandsia fuschii v. gracilis. This cutie is native to the outcrops and crevices of the cliffs in the tropical montane forests of Colombia. T. andreana features a compact base from which soft, bright green leaves emanate. A singular plant maintains a hemispherical shape; however, a clump of these plants forms an overall spherical shape. The leaves of this plant blush with a peachy color just before sending up a stunningly red bloom!

The care for this plant is a bit more nuanced since the thin leaves leave this plant susceptible to being thirsty. It is an excellent option for terrariums as the terrarium will help keep the plant from drying out so quickly. We recommend that this plant be watered weekly by soaking it in a bowl of purified water for about 1 hour. After the bath, give the plant a few good shakes to expel the water from crevices and place upside down on a paper towel to dry before placing back on display. A light misting 1-3 times a week will also help this plant.

Fertilizing is not necessary; however, it encourages faster growth, off-setting, blushing, and blooming! To fertilize, we recommend misting your specimen with a foliar fertilizer such as our Foliar Feed at least once a month.

Your specimen will be about 2-to-3 inches in width.
