Tillandsia fuschii v. gracilis is one of my favorites, reminds me of a pincushion full of pins! T. fuschii v. gracilis is native to Guatemala and features wispy thread-like leaf blades that radiate out of the spherical core of the plant. The leaves are a sage green and are full of specialized microscopic cups called trichomes. The bloom of this plant is a thin red stalk from which purple flowers arise. This plant produces pups readily after blooming which can be showcased in a clumping form if desired.

The care for this plant is a bit more nuanced since the thin leaves leave this plant susceptible to being thirsty. It is a great option for use in terrariums as the terrarium will help keep the plant from drying out so quickly. We recommend that this species be watered weekly by soaking it in bowl of purified water for about 1 hour. After the bath, give the plant a few good shakes to expel the water from crevices and place upside down on a paper towel to dry before placing back on display. A light misting 1-3 times a week will also help this plant.

Fertilizing is not necessary; however, it encourages faster growth, off-setting, blushing, and blooming! To fertilize, we recommend misting your specimen with a foliar fertilizer such as our Foliar Feed at least once a month.

Your specimen will be about 1-to-2 inches in length.
