Tillandsia juncea
Tillandsia juncea has a tall, slender, grassy feel and could easily be mistaken as such since this species grows among rocks rather than in tree. T. juncea has a wide range that stretches from the Mexico down to northern South America, the entirety of the Caribbean, and parts of southern Florida. In habitat it grows among cacti and cycads in clumps of upright, grass-like thickets that reach lengths of up to 16 inches. The leaves of this plant are olive green with copper accents. This plant produces a brilliantly red inflorescence with purple flowers.
Tillandsia juncea is a very drought-tolerant species of Tillandsia but is also sensitive to the intensity of light. Bright filtered light is best for this plant and watering should be done about twice a month by soaking in filtered water for 10 minutes. After the soak, give the plant a few good shakes to expel the water from crevices and place upside down on a paper towel to dry before placing back on display. A light misting every week will also help this plant.
Fertilizing is not necessary; however, it encourages faster growth, off-setting, blushing, and blooming! To fertilize, we recommend misting your specimen with a foliar fertilizer such as our Foliar Feed at least once a month.
Your specimen will be about 10-to-12 inches in length.
