Tillandsia seleriana is a breathtaking species of Tillandsia. This plant is a bulbous variety on air plant, similar to the T. caput-medusae, however, it is much larger! In fact, T. seleriana can reach a length of about 1 foot and grows the largest bulbs found in any Tillandsia species! Native to southern Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador  T. seleriana can be found growing on the sides of trees in pine and oak forests. When in bloom the uppermost leaves will blush reddish-purple and produce a stiff rose-pink bloom from which violet flowers will arise.

T. seleriana does well in bright indirect light. This plant is prone to rot as the tightly packed leaves that form the bulbous base are excellent at trapping water. Luckily, T. seleriana does not require a dunk or a bath. Misting this species about 3 times a week or more often if the air in your home is very dry is sufficient for these plants to thrive.

Fertilizing is not necessary; however, it encourages faster growth, off-setting, blushing, and blooming! To fertilize, we recommend misting your specimen with a foliar fertilizer such as our Foliar Feed at least once a month.

Your specimen will be about 8 inches tall and the circumference of the bulb varies.
