Tillandsia xiphioides
Tillandsia xiphioides is a great plant if you are prone to forgetting that you have to take care of your plants! T. xiphioides showcases thick, succulent, leather-like leaves which allows it to go long periods of time without water. This adaptation is useful to T. xiphiodes in its desert habitat of Argentina and Bolivia Apart from being drought tolerant this species is one of the few Tillandsia that produces a scented flower! When in bloom T. xiphioides exhibits 1-3 gorgeous pure white, frilly edged flowers that are intoxicatingly (in a good way) citrus scented—somewhat reminiscent of the scent of a Gardenia flower.
These plants are rarely offered on the market and I was able to secure a few of them. These specimens are chunky plants and have started to grow a flower stalk! Place your order now so you don’t miss out on the wonderful bloom!
Fertilizing is not necessary; however, it encourages faster growth, off-setting, blushing, and blooming! To fertilize, we recommend misting your specimen with a foliar fertilizer such as our Foliar Feed at least once a month.
Your specimen will be 4+ inches in height and have a flower stalk!
